How do I stop snoring?

I have been a snorer since I was a child. Apparently It gets quite loud. I do smoke & drink but not as a child!! The only time I didn't snore apparently was when I spent 2 wks in Lanzarote with my husband. He sometimes sleeps in the spare room due to my snoring so he would definitely notice the change! Could it be something to do with the humidity/heat in the air? I have had mild asthma since I was 4. My kids are complaining now so I really need to do something. thanx
